Last evening saw an impressive performance by Girish Chatterjee at the Kalakunj (secondary auditorium of Kalamandir), organized by Holy Home in association with Taan Sur Sangeet Vidyalaya. His performance was a tribute to his guru, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.
Girishji started his recital with raag Yaman (video clip), followed by a magnificent rendition of raag Kalavati (video clip) on request from “Denner” Milan from the audience.
Next was the bhajan “Jo Bhaje Hari Ko Sada“, made immortal by Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. He concluded the ceremony with the popular tune “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” at requests of some of the listeners.
In his accompaniment with tabla, Ashish Chatterjee was smooth and blended well with the vocals throughout the performance.
We thank Girishji for treating us with a superb performance and sincerely wish that he continues to visit this city more often.
